The horse weight measuring tape is 91inches, so it is long enough for bigger size horses. There are 2 metal rings on both ends. The ring is heavy enough to drop on the far side of the horse and grab, makes it easy to hang in the tack room and gives the band some weight when it is tossed over the horse's back; it doesn't swing in the breeze as much when trying to grab it.
For measuring height of horse, this tape includes hands measurement. If you have a horse that needs to lose or maintain weight, this is the best tool
The weight tape helps keeping up with its weight and needs, while the height side helped gauging how tall it is.
There are two arrows on one end. You put that end over the top of the horse, let it drop down, and pull it up like you’re tightening a girth. Where the arrows meet the tape, that’s the horse's weight.
With hands and LBS scales, it is easy to use and read.its PVC plastic coated fiberglass material makes it accurate and durable. Every horseman, horsewoman needs this in their stable.
This tape measure can measure length up to 91inches, 22:3 hands. Weight up to1500 lbs
How to measure weight of a horse
Hold onto this end, and throw the tape over the horse’s back just behind the withers. Reach under the horse behind the front legs and pull the tape snug around the horse’s heart girth.
How to measure height of a horse
Facing the horse’s shoulder, put the end of the tape under your foot as shown. Making sure the tape is straight up and down, line up the top of horse’s withers with a point on the tape.
A horse’s height is measured in “hands” at the withers. One hand equals four inches. Fractions of a hand are expressed in inches. Therefore, fifteen-and-a-half hands is expressed as 15:2
Example: The horse’s height is 15:2 (read as “fifteen two”).The horse is fifteen hands and two inches tall or 62 inches.
